Pros:
It's a Pull up/Chin up bar. If you're like me and you don't have time to go to the gym or drive around looking for something to do a pull up off, then The Iron Gym is the perfect alternative for people who are serious about working out at home.
The book offers a decent list of muscle building foods.
Cons:
Dips push ups and sit ups on the Iron gym are not worth doing. From my experience, standard push ups and sit ups done alone rather than assisted with the Iron Gym are more effective. Doing dips on this is a joke without proper elevation.
The book doesn't offer a detailed workout routine.
No ab straps
Bottom Line:
I've wanted a pull up/ Chin up bar for years.I'm glad a device like this was invented,it's a clever design and is just what am I looking for.
I bought my Iron Gym at 'Big 5' last week but JUST opened it and put it together this morning.
So I opened the box and empty the parts on the table . I removed all the plastic from the parts and then I connected the right and left ends of the pull up bar together and with a twist, I secured the bar into place. There aren't many parts that make up the Iron Gym.6 Pieces and that includes the lil metal clip that attaches to the door frame. 4 screws,4 locking washers and 4 nuts hold Iron Gym together. The Iron Gym also comes with its own wrench and is easy to assemble.(5-10 minutes)
After I assembled the Iron Gym it looked to me as though it may break or ruin my door frame once I hung from it.To be honest,I thought I just had been ripped off. As I inspected the Iron Gym I started to understand what the commercial was saying about getting ripped quick.I thought I had been ripped off quick for $39.99, and Papa didn't even get no ab straps.
Thankfully, since I have the mind of a scientist, I decided to test out the Iron Gym anyway ,and I was pleasantly surprised. The Iron Gym once put together fit perfectly onto my door frame in seconds as promised. The Iron gym held my weight perfectly (175lbs soaking wet) ,and I was able to get a good pull up workout. The Iron Gyms makes lil bit of noise while doing pull ups/chin ups but I never feel like it's going to break or rip my door frame off.
The Iron Gym offers 3 positions to do pull ups from, a most challenging wide grip, a moderately challenging medium grip ,and an easy close grip. If you stay dedicated to pull ups and do other forms of workouts like running and weight lifting while being on a proper diet. The Iron Gym will help you get ripped and make you stronger. Unfortunately,The Iron Gym in my opinion has more cons than pros. The Iron Gym makes a promise ,it says you'll get ripped quick.
Getting ripped depends on your body fat levels, diet, workout routine and metabolism. It's false advertisement. If you think you're going to get "ripped quick" using this,HA!!
But all in all, I like the Iron Gym. I wanted a pull up bar,The Iron gym is a damn good pull up bar.It was worth the money I paid for it. Only $39.99 for a practical, useful and and effective piece of workout equipment specifically designed for such an essential exercise as the pull up? SOLD!
I am going to give the Iron gym since it has more cons than pros two stars. I recommend the Iron Gym only as a home pull up bar that is cheap ,cleverly designed and most of all ,works.
