  • Cons:
  • Does not fit on all doors
  • Plastic bar can be easily bent
  • Ab straps are not included

The Bottom Line:
The Iron Gym is a durable, versatile workout system, and we liked it very much. The only things preventing it from getting five stars were the fact that it did not come with the ab straps as advertised and did not fit in larger doorways.

Pros: sturdy. not complicated to set up or install (if you have the right style door). Versatile

Cons: you cant do dips with it. does not include the straps

The Bottom Line: Like any piece of exercise equipment, it works if you use it. The iron gym isnt really any different than similar products but it does work as advertised. As mentioned in the original review it doesnt come with the straps which is lame.

Pros: Simple
Easy to Install & Remove
Works for Pull Ups
$25 after retailer's coupon

Cons: Worthless for Dips

Bottom Line: If what you want is a simple pull-up bar that works, this fits the bill. It assembles in minutes and slips onto typical door frames with no fuss. The design is simple and effective. When you put your weight on it, the moment created pushes rubber pads against the wall so that friction helps hold the bar up. Thus, the door molding doesn't actually have to carry all your body weight. Over time it may leave some scuff marks, but I doubt it would harm most doorways. I also like it for push-ups as it lets me do them without bending my bum wrist. It's pretty worthless for dips though.

Pros: It's a Pull up/Chin up bar. If you're like me and you don't have time to go to the gym or drive around looking for something to do a pull up off, then The Iron Gym is the perfect alternative for people who are serious about working out at home.

The book offers a decent list of muscle building foods.

Cons: Dips push ups and sit ups on the Iron gym are not worth doing. From my experience, standard push ups and sit ups done alone rather than assisted with the Iron Gym are more effective. Doing dips on this is a joke without proper elevation.

The book doesn't offer a detailed workout routine.

No ab straps

Bottom Line: I've wanted a pull up/ Chin up bar for years.I'm glad a device like this was invented,it's a clever design and is just what am I looking for.
I bought my Iron Gym at 'Big 5' last week but JUST opened it and put it together this morning.

So I opened the box and empty the parts on the table . I removed all the plastic from the parts and then I connected the right and left ends of the pull up bar together and with a twist, I secured the bar into place. There aren't many parts that make up the Iron Gym.6 Pieces and that includes the lil metal clip that attaches to the door frame. 4 screws,4 locking washers and 4 nuts hold Iron Gym together. The Iron Gym also comes with its own wrench and is easy to assemble.(5-10 minutes)

After I assembled the Iron Gym it looked to me as though it may break or ruin my door frame once I hung from it.To be honest,I thought I just had been ripped off. As I inspected the Iron Gym I started to understand what the commercial was saying about getting ripped quick.I thought I had been ripped off quick for $39.99, and Papa didn't even get no ab straps.

Thankfully, since I have the mind of a scientist, I decided to test out the Iron Gym anyway ,and I was pleasantly surprised. The Iron Gym once put together fit perfectly onto my door frame in seconds as promised. The Iron gym held my weight perfectly (175lbs soaking wet) ,and I was able to get a good pull up workout. The Iron Gyms makes lil bit of noise while doing pull ups/chin ups but I never feel like it's going to break or rip my door frame off.

The Iron Gym offers 3 positions to do pull ups from, a most challenging wide grip, a moderately challenging medium grip ,and an easy close grip. If you stay dedicated to pull ups and do other forms of workouts like running and weight lifting while being on a proper diet. The Iron Gym will help you get ripped and make you stronger. Unfortunately,The Iron Gym in my opinion has more cons than pros. The Iron Gym makes a promise ,it says you'll get ripped quick.
Getting ripped depends on your body fat levels, diet, workout routine and metabolism. It's false advertisement. If you think you're going to get "ripped quick" using this,HA!!
But all in all, I like the Iron Gym. I wanted a pull up bar,The Iron gym is a damn good pull up bar.It was worth the money I paid for it. Only $39.99 for a practical, useful and and effective piece of workout equipment specifically designed for such an essential exercise as the pull up? SOLD!

I am going to give the Iron gym since it has more cons than pros two stars. I recommend the Iron Gym only as a home pull up bar that is cheap ,cleverly designed and most of all ,works.

Pros: May get you "ripped."

Cons: Your house may "get ripped," too

Bottom Line: I told my mom not to buy it. I saw the prop door frame in the commercial, and immediately identified how it was constructed out of materials the average household door frame does not have.

I saw stainless steel in the door frame structure as well as other materials, and began to silently keep the opinion to myself that iron gym was likely going to support your weight just fine, but you'd find that your house, when turned into gym equipment structure support, would not survive the stress.

I didn't ask for one, but my mom on a guess bought one for christmas. I told her I wasn't going to use it, but I never told anyone else in my house likely cons that come with using the product. I just irresponsibly left it lying around. I didn't have enough solid proof, only suspicion of what it might end up doing. Months later my sister tried it out. I knew because I saw the basement door frame. (By the way, we have a nice, finished basement that is very inviting to the guests)

The basement door frame looked like it had been ripped away from the drywall around the top of the door frame.

Pros: Study. As advertised.

Cons: No ab straps.

Bottom Line: The Iron Gym is very sturdy. It's easy to take up and down. It allows many different workouts. There were no ab straps included in the package. I didn't want to spend $8 on them, so no ab straps for me.

Pretty Cool

What It Claims To Do: The iron Gym promises to make you lean and strong in just 30 days. The infomercial informs us that the Iron Gym has no screws, causes no damage to doors, and can give you the ability to do great push-ups, pull-ups, dips, and crunches in just seconds.

What We Found: The Iron Gym took more than just seconds to set up. We had to try several doors before we found one it would fit. Either the doors were too wide (you'll need doors that are less than 30" wide), or near a corner which did not give enough room for the outer bars of the Iron Gym.

The iron gym was light and easy to put on and take off the door. It seemed sturdy during the workout, and even came with a small metal piece that attaches to the top of the door frame to prevent slipping.

We liked the fact that the Iron Gym has several different grips. When you do chin ups, the different grips allow you to isolate different muscles with each workout. It is also possible to use the Iron Gym for sit-ups, push-ups and crunches.

There are some limitations to using the Iron Gym workout bar for push ups. With a normal push up bar, you have the option for using a v-formation, which allows you to isolate certain back muscles. With the Iron Gym, you are forced to do a parallel workout.

Another thing we noticed - the metal piece that runs accross the top of the Iron Gym seemed somewhat flimsy. You'll want to be careful not to step on it, or it will bend.

We were disappointed to learn that the Ab Strap advertised on the infomercial did not actually come with the product. Instead, there was a mail-in-rebate on the box. To get the Ab Straps, you need to mail away a few dollars and wait a few weeks for the straps.

Bottom Line: We liked the Iron Gym. It's well-made, mobile, versatile, and offers several different workouts. We were unimpressed by the false advertising that the Ab Straps come free with the Iron Gym, but that was not enough to make us feel poorly about this product. Just be sure that your doors are under 30" wide, or the Iron Gym will not be able to fit.
