  • Gorilla
  • Made in China
  • Has color safety tabs, to show when position is locked into place
  • Bolted connections
  • Includes complimentary toolbox
  • Includes static hinges
  • 34.5 lbs.
  • Little Giant:
  • Made in USA
  • Advertises more angles than exist
  • Welded Connections
  • Weak truss position
  • 36 lbs.

The Bottom Line:
Both ladders fold into the same positions and are very useful. We did find the Gorilla to be better in its sturdiness as a scaffold, safety mechanisms, included tools and weight. (And its cheaper!)

I'm a little confused- if the reviewers liked the Gorilla better, why is a higher rating given to the Little Giant? Either way, that was a pretty good, comprehensive comparison. These infomercial products actually seem worth the purchase. Thanks for the video!

little gaint has the same hinges you said it didn't. Anyone I know would rather have a welded part rather than a bolted one due to the fact a weld is much stronger. It wieghs more because it has more aiuminum which costs more da.

Pros: I got this Little Giant from the PNE in Vancouver, BC Canada. It includes so much features. As well as all of the accessories.

Cons: Expensive

The Bottom Line: Nice product, the newest edition is so much more different than reviewed in this following video.

I first bought the Little Giant 21 foot for a good price, I think anyway, for 434.00. I sent it back because of the worry of a ladder that expensive being stolen. As we all know locks or special straps ect. can all be defeated in less than a minute. I just could not worry all the time thinking my ladder might be stolen. I know it is a little irrational but my goodness, a just a ladder for near 500.00 with shipping ! Just too much of a mental worry. Oh but I LOVE the Little Giant. I have used one before and wow is it smooth. If I was financially well off I would buy the Little Giant hands down.

What kind of nonsensical review was this? Um, yeah, I just got this ladder and I'll rate it one star. Um, yeah. Pathetic.

A correction or perhaps a change subsequent to your review, here in the UK at least the ladder instructions specifically state not to use the scaffolding trestle layout for the little giant unless you use the optional work platform/spreader attachment. This would resolve the truss position problem you identified.

Do I need to use the gorilla static hinges to turn it into a scaffold ? or can it be turn into a truss like the little giant without the use of the static hinges ?

I will take the made in USA, welded, Little Giant ladder over the made in China, bolted together, Gorilla ladder any day. When the other guy shows up on the job site with his made in China knock off and left part of his ladder at home (braces) ill be working. red painted locking tabs, wow, if your that dumb to know when your ladder is locked you you shouldn't be on a ladder in the first place, that's like having the underside of a toilet seat painted red so you know its up before you sit down.

If you're such a smart guy you'd know the difference between your and you're. You don't, so you're not that smart after all.

What they claim: Both the Gorilla and Little Giant Ladder claim to be the only ladder you'll ever need. Both boast to be an impressive number of ladders all in one (Gorilla claims to have 18 positions, Little Giant claims 24), and advertise themselves as sturdy and safe.

What we found: These ladders are clearly both very useful and handy. As advertised, they bend and extend into numerous useful positions - A-frame ladders, step ladders, extension ladders and scaffolding trusses.

On initial glance, the most apparent difference between these two ladders is the presence of orange-colored accents on the Little Giant that are not present on the Gorilla Ladder. These accents are as functional as they are aesthetic - they help keep the Little Giant Ladder supported when it is converted into the scaffolding truss position. The absence of these accents does not seem to harm the Gorilla, however. It's unique, patented static hinges make the Gorilla scaffolding position much sturdier feeling than the Little Giant's.

The Gorilla also has an added feature that is not found in the Little Giant Ladder - color safety tabs. These tabs are visible only until the joints are safely locked in place. This bonus feature prevents you from using the ladder before it is properly set into place. Nice.

The Little Giant is a USA manufactured product and the Gorilla comes from China. The Gorilla is slightly lighter than the Little Giant - 34.5 lbs in contrast to the Little Giant's 36.

One thing that made a difference to me - the Little Giant advertised 24 positions - a number they got by counting the right-angle positions twice - because each position can be used as a right-angle ladder or staircase ladder. We found 18. That is not the kind of honest advertising I'd look for. Though we only found 18 positions for the Gorilla when they advertised 20, that's because they counted the scaffolding trusses as 3 separate positions - since you can place the platform at any of the 3 heights.

The bottom line: Both ladders meet their claims of being terrific all-in-one ladders. The Gorilla has a sturdier scaffolding position, and is less deceptive in their advertising. The Gorilla also has safety tabs that we thought were a nice feature. The Little Giant is USA produced, while the Gorilla is manufactured in China. Our personal favorite? The Gorilla. And its cheaper.
