Magic Jack
Pros:
Cheap. Mostly reliable. Good sound quality.
Nice call log.
Voicemail goes to email and can be checked from any computer.
Great help available from peer users on the unofficial forums.
Cons:
Not reliable enough to be counted on exclusively. Very rarely has a problem with choppy outgoing voice. I once had a call that sounded like buttons were being pushed on the phone.
Must have a computer powered up 24/7.
Bottom Line:
I've had my Magic Jack for almost a year and have renewed my service for another year. It's not perfect, but is mostly reliable. The call quality is good for the most part. There have been hiccups, but all have been worked out with help from the unofficial forums. My biggest problem was overcome when I put it on a powered USB hub. It has replaced my land line and saved me hundreds of dollars. I have my cell phone to back me up when needed, but that's very rare.
