It seems like this is a risky product- it works for some, not so much for others. What experiences have you had with it?
/Magic Jack
Jeb- if you don't want it to appear as an answer, you have to post it as a new question instead of response to a previous one (scroll the the bottom of the page for the new post options).
Oh, and there I go making this even more complicated by responding as an answer...

Answer to:
Well in the hardware cost should include the cost of a PC seeing magic jack needs one to make a phone calls. It is acting like a server for the magic jack and with out a PC it is not going to work. so even if you include a PC the price will change for the price comparison to break even. lets say you get a PC for $200 then + $40 for magic jack = $240 now after 10 years at $20 = $200 and them together = $440 for total price after 10 years. ooma is cheaper than? magic jack.

There's also something called a "thin client" computer. These are very simple computers designed for simple tasks, and run on about 8-10 Watts of electricity. You usually find them at customer service desks and the like (I always see them at Costco and JetBlue's service desk- they look a little bigger than an external hard drive).
Apparently, you can pick one of these up on ebay for $60-$100 with Windows XP embedded, and they run Magic Jack perfectly. And use almost no electricty.
But no, I don't think it fair to factor in the cost of the computer, as most people wouldn't buy a computer just for this purpose. Personally, I repurposed an obsolete laptop from 12 years ago for the task. If you have the internet, chances are you already have a computer.

Answer to:
I've been wondering if the sleeves are too long and curtail normal functioning- like, do u find yourself maybe knocking a drink over because you have all this fabric hanging off of you?
(Or maybe it's just me...I'm kind of clumsy.)
/Snuggie
You can always roll up the sleeves! They ARE long though, as you see in this video. Jonah is tall.

Answer to:
Where can I purchase a magic jack, besides online, and is there a way I can keep my current home phone number with a magic jack
/Magic Jack
Sure, you get pick up the Magic Jack in most electronics chains, such as Fry's or Radio Shack. I think I've even seen them in the "As Seen On TV" section at my local 7-11 store. Often for less than they advertise on the commercial!

Answer to:
Will this work on textured tiles?
/Get a Grip
I would have to say probably not. Depends on how textured they are, but the mechanics behind how a suction cup works depends on the surface being smooth enough to not allow air to slip in.

Answer to:
How long does it last? Does it get slippery after a while?
/Get a Grip
I actually left it on my bathroom wall near the tub for a couple of weeks, my kids used it to get out. I did notice it getting a little loose, possibly from splashing and/or humidity, so I redid it. But I haven't been able to recreate the issue.
I would recommend just testing to make sure it is secure every now and then before relying on it.
Also, I believe there is a new version which includes a suction indicator that turns green/red to determine if suction is still holding.

For the sake of our viewers, we skipped the demonstration part of this.
Also, you may have noticed this product is in a new section of InfoNOTmercial. This section is reserved for bizarre, strange, or otherwise uncategorizable products. In most cases, a demonstration will not be necessary. On principle.
Seriously. We don't need to see Andrew pee on camera.

Answer to:
If I purchase magic jack, is it compatible with the Panasonic KX TS620B? The link:
http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/911832/Panasonic-KX-TS620B-corded-phone-w/
If not, could tyou tell me what office phone would?
Thanks
/Magic Jack
Magic Jack outputs a phone line that imitates a standard phone servive. I would think it is compatible with any handset that is designed to use a standard line.
Maybe I'm missing something here, but why would an "office telephone" be any different than a standard handset?

Yes, people have gotten fax machines to work over a Magic Jack line.
Officially, they don't support it, however they do admit that it can be done.
Here is their official response:
"We do not officially support using faxing with magicJack.
Please try the following steps to use magicJack with your fax (contact your fax manufacturer for details):
Turn off error correction on your fax machine or program
Set the fax machine or program to use the slowest speed available
Increase the speed, checking at each speed that faxes work"

I think in general, setting to the lowest speed has more of a chance of working.
